Ulli (Onion) Vada


Ingredients:

  1. Sliced Onion - 2 big nos.
  2. Chopped Ginger - 1/2 tsp
  3. Chopped green chillies - 3 nos.
  4. Chopped curry leaves - 2 tsp
  5. Red Chilli powder- 1/4 tsp
  6. Salt - to taste
  7. Baking Soda - 1/4 tsp (optional)
  8. Besan - 1/2 cup
  9. Maida - 1/2 cup
  10. Oil - for frying



Preparation:
  1. Add the ingredients from 1 to 7 to a bowl and mix well.
  2. Squeeze them well so that the onion becomes soft.
  3. Now add besan and mix well.
  4. Add maida and mix well.
  5. Add some water if required to make a thick batter.
  6. Set aside the batter for 1 to 1.5 hours.
  7. Heat oil in a pan. When oil turns hot, make small patties of the mixture prepared and drop it into the oil.
  8. Fry on a medium flame on both sides until they turn golden brown.
  9. Serve hot as an evening snack with tea.
