Dal Makhani


Ingredients:
  1. Black Urad Dal - 1 cup.
  2. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  3. Red chilli powder - 2 tbsp
  4. Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  5. Whole Garam Masala - cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf, cardamon
  6. Butter - 1/4 cup
  7. Kasuri Methi- 1 tbsp
  8. Tomato Puree - 1 1/2 cup
  9. Cream - 1/2 cup
  10. Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
  11. Chopped coriander leaves
  12. Oil - 1 tbsp

Preparation:

  1. Soak the urad dal for 1 hour.
  2. Pressure cook it until the dal is well cooked.
  3. Add little oil into a pan.
  4. Add jeera and wait until it splutters.
  5. Add the whole garam masala and wait until it splutters.
  6. Add the ginger garlic paste and mix well until the raw smell goes off.
  7. Add a pinch of turmeric and mix well.
  8. Add the tomato puree now and cook on a low flame until the tomato gets cooked.
  9. When the tomato mixture starts boiling, add red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt to taste and cover and cook for some more time.
  10. Add butter and mix well.
  11. Now add the water from the cooked dal to this mixture and cook for few more minutes.
  12. When the mixture starts boiling, add the cooked dal and mix well.
  13. Boil on a low flame for some more time, until the gravy becomes thick.
  14. Add kasuri methi powder and mix well.
  15. Cover with a lid and cook for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  16. Add the cream and mix well.
  17. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
