Obbattu - Karnataka Special



Ingredients:

  1. Maida - 1 cup
  2. Roasted Semolina - 1/2 cup
  3. Chana dal - 1/2 cup
  4. Jaggery - 1/2 cup
  5. Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
  6. Ghee - 3 tbsp
  7. Salt - to taste

Preparation:
  1. Soak chana dal overnight.
  2. Pressure cook chana dal along with salt and water in a cooker until well cooked.
  3. Make a soft dough out of maida, roasted semolina, little salt, ghee and water. Keep aside for 30 minutes.
  4. In a pan, add the cooked chana dal, grated jaggery, cardamom powder and make into a thick paste. This forms the stuffing.
  5. Divide the dough into equal portions and make small rotis out of it.
  6. Take small portions of the stuffing, keep the same inside the roti and roll it once again.
  7. Now spread them into small rotis.
  8. Heat a pan. 
  9. Cook the rotis one by one. Add ghee as required.
  10. Serve hot.
