Avalose Podi (Roasted Rice and Coconut powder)

Avalose podi is a yummy Kerala snack!!!


Ingredients:
  1. Raw rice - 1 cup
  2. Grated coconut - 1 cup
  3. Sugar - 3/4 cup
  4. Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
  5. Curry leaves 
  6. Black sesame seeds - 1tbsp
  7. Cardamom powder - 1 tsp

Preparation:
  1. Soak the rice in water for 5 to 6 hours.
  2. Drain the water and dry the rice by spreading it on a cloth for some time.
  3. Once it is semi dry, powder the rice in a mixer.
  4. Take a bowl. Add the powdered rice into it. Add the grated coconut as well.
  5. Now mix them together with your hands thoroughly such that the milk in the coconut gets coated with the rice flour.
  6. Now heat a pan. Add the rice flour and coconut mixture into it and fry nicely, until a nice aroma comes out and the mixture turns slightly brown.
  7. Heat some ghee in a pan. Fry some curry leaves and sesame seeds.
  8. Once done, add the sesame seeds and curry leaves to the rice flour mixture.
  9. Now add sugar and cardamom powder and mix well. 

Best when served as an evening snack along with tea...!!!
