Dosa with Tomato Chutney


Ingredients:
For Dosa:

  1. Raw rice - 1 cup
  2. Urad dal - 1/2 cup
  3. Salt - to taste
For Tomato Chutney
  1. Sliced tomatoes - 2
  2. Sliced Onion - 1
  3. Dry red chillies - 4 nos.
  4. Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
  5. Urad dal - 1 tbsp
  6. Oil - 4 tbsp
  7. Curry leaves - for seasoning
  8. Salt - to taste
Dosa Preparation:
  1. Soak the rice and urad dal in water in 2 separate bowls for 5 to 6 hours.
  2. Combine the rice and ural dal in a mixer grinder. Add some cooked rice for softness. Add water and grind to a smooth paste.
  3. Transfer the batter to a bowl and leave it overnight for it to raise.
  4. Add salt to taste and mix well.
  5. Heat a tawa. Drop 1 big spoon of the batter and spread evenly to make a dosa.
  6. Add ghee or oil.
  7. Once done, remove from flame. Repeat the same to make more dosas.
Tomato Chutney:
  1. Heat 3 tbsp of oil in a pan.
  2. Add the dry red chillies and fry. Remove from oil and keep aside.
  3. Now add the urad dal and fry until golden brown.
  4. Add the sliced onions and saute well. Add the salt.
  5. Once the onions turn light brown, add the slicd tomatoes and saute well until it gets cooked well.
  6. Add grated coconut and fry for 3 more minutes.
  7. Add the fried dry red chilli to a mixer jar and grind to a coarse mix.
  8. Now add the tomato and coconut mix to the jar and grind well.
  9. For seasoning, heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan.
  10. Add some mustard seeds and wait until it splutters.
  11. Add dry red chilli, little urad dal and curry leaves and fry for few seconds.
  12. Add the seasoning to the chutney and serve with hot dosa.
