Ingredients:
For Dosa:
- Raw rice - 1 cup
- Urad dal - 1/2 cup
- Salt - to taste
For Tomato Chutney
- Sliced tomatoes - 2
- Sliced Onion - 1
- Dry red chillies - 4 nos.
- Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
- Urad dal - 1 tbsp
- Oil - 4 tbsp
- Curry leaves - for seasoning
- Salt - to taste
Dosa Preparation:
- Soak the rice and urad dal in water in 2 separate bowls for 5 to 6 hours.
- Combine the rice and ural dal in a mixer grinder. Add some cooked rice for softness. Add water and grind to a smooth paste.
- Transfer the batter to a bowl and leave it overnight for it to raise.
- Add salt to taste and mix well.
- Heat a tawa. Drop 1 big spoon of the batter and spread evenly to make a dosa.
- Add ghee or oil.
- Once done, remove from flame. Repeat the same to make more dosas.
Tomato Chutney:
- Heat 3 tbsp of oil in a pan.
- Add the dry red chillies and fry. Remove from oil and keep aside.
- Now add the urad dal and fry until golden brown.
- Add the sliced onions and saute well. Add the salt.
- Once the onions turn light brown, add the slicd tomatoes and saute well until it gets cooked well.
- Add grated coconut and fry for 3 more minutes.
- Add the fried dry red chilli to a mixer jar and grind to a coarse mix.
- Now add the tomato and coconut mix to the jar and grind well.
- For seasoning, heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan.
- Add some mustard seeds and wait until it splutters.
- Add dry red chilli, little urad dal and curry leaves and fry for few seconds.
- Add the seasoning to the chutney and serve with hot dosa.
