Quick Upma

 

Ingredients:

  • Roasted Semolina/Rava - 1 cup
  • Chopped Ginger - 1 tbsp
  • Chopped Green Chillies - 2 to 3 nos.
  • Curry leaves - 2 sticks
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Water - to cook the semolina
  • Mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Salt - to taste

Preparation:
  • Heat oil in a kadhai.
  • Add mustard and wait till it splutters.
  • Add chopped ginger and fry lightly, till the aroma comes out.
  • Add the curry leaves.
  • Add the chopped onion and green chilli and saute.
  • Add salt and saute until the onion becomes soft. Fry lightly.
  • Add the turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Add enough water to cook the semolina and bring it to boil.
  • Once the water starts boiling, add the semolina to it and mix well.
  • Cover with lid and simmer for another 2 mins.
  • Serve hot once done.

Tip:
we can also add vegetables like chopped beans, carrot, green peas while sauting the onion. Also add chopped coriander leaves for the garnish.
