Ingredients
- Toor dal - 1/2 cup
- Onion - 2
- Potato - 2
- Tomato - 2
- Hing - 1/4 tsp
- Ladies finger - 15 nos.
- Green chillies - 3
- Dry red chilli - 3
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Water - 2 to 3 cups
- Salt - to taste
- Sambar powder - 3 tsp
- Soak the Toor dal in water for 20 mins.
- Chop the onions, potato and green chillies
- Pressure cook the dal along with onion, potato, green chillies, Turmeric powder, salt, hing and water until dal gets cooked ( almost 3 whistles)
- Cut the ladies finger into 1.5 inch long pieces.
- Fry these pieces in oil for around 7 to 8 minutes on low flame.
- Now add the red chilli powder, coriander powder, Sambar powder, Turmeric powder, salt, tomato, ladies finger to the dal mixture and pressure cook until 1 or 2 whistles.
- For the seasoning, heat oil in a pan
- Add the mustard seeds and wait until they splutter.
- Add the red chillies and fry until they turn slightly brown.
- Add the curry leaves and fry for few seconds.
- Add the seasoning to the Sambar and serve hot with rice or Dosa.
